Local community organisations benefiting from Legacy Trust grants will be pleased to learn that distributions are set to grow as a result of the acquisition of Todd Gower Funeral Services by Legacy Funeral Homes Limited, which is wholly owned by Legacy Trust. 

“The acquisition is definitely something that I am excited about,” said Todd Gower.  “In fact, it was my idea to suggest the acquisition to Legacy, as I could see so many positives by having both funeral homes working more closely together”.

Anticipated benefits for Mr Gower include the full use of Legacy’s dedicated funeral homes Woodhill and Tauranga Park, and the sharing of office administration resources.

“We often have families come to Todd Gower Funeral Services with a specific request that we use Tauranga Park or Woodhill,” he said.  “Up until now we haven’t been able to offer these venues, so I’m sure that our families will see an immediate benefit here.”

“In addition, the move to sit under the umbrella of the Legacy Trust means that all our profits will go back to the community.  While families don’t always choose a funeral home because of this reason, it does give comfort to know that there is a lasting legacy being created as a result of the funeral decision that’s been made,” he said.

General Manager for Legacy Funerals Mike Savage is equally enthusiastic about the acquisition.

“To have an extended network that now includes Todd and his colleague Paula Williamson is good for Legacy, particularly as Paula is one of only a few women funeral directors in the Bay of Plenty,” he said.

It is envisaged that both funeral homes will continue with ‘business as usual’ in terms of how they present themselves to the public.

“There is no reason to change anything that we are doing currently,” said Mr Savage.  “Both organisations have enjoyed strong support from families in the region and we look forward to this continuing.  Our ultimate goal is to deliver a professional, caring service to families thus creating funds for Legacy Trust to distribute in this community,” he said.

Making a Lasting Gift

All profits from Todd Gower Funeral Services are distributed by the Legacy Trust to local charities.  To date, the Legacy Trust has gifted over $860,000 to the local community - generosity that is only possible because of the choice that families have made in choosing Todd Gower Funeral Services or other contributing funeral homes.
