Woodhill

Built of kauri in 1885 and now one of the city’s most historically significant buildings, Woodhill was an original homestead in the Otumoetai area.

In latter times Woodhill has been operating as a funeral home, a purpose to which it lends itself because of its tranquil traditional setting and beautiful cottage gardens. The traditional wrap-around verandah provides guests with a peaceful space outside, and indoors the fully-restored stained glass and colonial-style paned windows, polished Kauri ceiling and antique furniture and fireplaces add ambience, serenity and splendour.

Modern comforts are evident too, with the chapel area providing flexible seating arrangements to suit small to large funerals of up to 100. The venue has a fully-equipped air-conditioning system for all-year comfort, an organ/piano, quality sound system, and all the necessary kitchen facilities for on-site catering purposes. In addition there is private off-road parking for 20 vehicles.
